I guess it is now the post (that is the label on the most obvious button, as in @jyri 's "make the verb obvious" idea) as @termie points out. Also the link you had the other day points to the fact that any post has the potential to start a conversation
It could be that Jaiku itself is the object, being one of the orginal microblogging platforms, the many features of the original mobile client (location, current profile in use etc), being one of the participants in the drive towards federation and openness.
